Great eyelashes don't just happen overnight. That's why it's important to note that LATISSE® solution works gradually and remarkably — with full results at week 16. Once you begin, you must continue applying the topical solution each night and follow the directions for best results. If you stop using LATISSE® at any time, your eyelashes will return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

Set your sights on growth.
As the treatment progresses, you'll first begin to see changes in length. Then, gradually, you'll notice more thickness and darkness in your lashes. If you're satisfied with your results by week 8, don't stop there. Stick with the treatment. After week 16, you'll see the full effect of LATISSE® solution — and so will others. After that, you can talk to your doctor about ongoing use.

Results were proven in our clinical study.
The LATISSE® clinical study was conducted at 16 sites across the country and included 278 participants of varying ages (22 to 78). The study tested LATISSE® solution and a vehicle (or placebo), which was LATISEE® without its active ingredient. Neither patients nor Clinical Investigators knew which group received what treatment. By week 16, the results showed that 78% (107/137) of participants experienced a significant increase in overall eyelash prominence (including elements of length, fullness and darkness), compared to 18% (26/141) for the vehicle group.

Clinical trial results showed lashes were:
25% longer (2% for vehicle)
106% fuller (12% for vehicle)
18% darker (3% for vehicle)

Side effects are possible. Here's what to look out for.
LATISSE® does have some side effects, the most common of which are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. These were reported in approximately 4% of patients.

Other less common side effects typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include eyelid skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Eyelid skin darkening is a result of increased melanin in the skin, making your eyelid skin look a little darker close to where the solution is applied to the skin. This is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product.

If you're using LATISSE® solution and you develop a new ocular condition or reaction (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, or need to have eye surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor immediately concerning the continued use of LATISSE®.

FAQs

What is hypotrichosis of the eyelashes?

Hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

What is LATISSE® solution?

LATISSE® solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Who should NOT take LATISSE®? Do not use LATISSE® solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients.

Are there any special warnings associated with LATISSE® use?

LATISSE® solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes.

DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you are using LUMIGAN® or other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE® under the close supervision of your physician. LATISSE® use may cause darkening of the eyelid skin which may be reversible. LATISSE® use may also cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which is likely to be permanent. It is possible for hair growth to occur in other areas of your skin that LATISSE® frequently touches. Any excess solution outside the upper eyelid margin should be blotted with a tissue or other absorbent material to reduce the chance of this from happening. It is also possible for a difference in eyelash length, thickness, fullness, pigmentation, number of eyelash hairs, and/or direction of eyelash growth to occur between eyes. These differences, should they occur, will usually go away if you stop using LATISSE®.

Who should I tell that I am using LATISSE®?

You should tell your physician you are using LATISSE® especially if you have a history of eye pressure problems. You should also tell anyone conducting an eye pressure screening that you are using LATISSE®.

What should I do if I get LATISSE® in my eye?

LATISSE® solution is an ophthalmic drug product. LATISSE® is not expected to cause harm if it gets into the eye proper. Do not attempt to rinse your eye in this situation.

What are the possible side effects of LATISSE®?

The most common side effects after using LATISSE® solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients. LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician’s advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE® solution.

What happens if I stop using LATISSE®?

If you stop using LATISSE®, your eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months. Any eyelid skin darkening is expected to reverse after several weeks to months. Any darkening of the colored part of the eye known as the iris is NOT expected to reverse and is likely permanent.

How do I use LATISSE®?

The recommended dosage is one application nightly to the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes only. Once nightly, start by ensuring your face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed. Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE® on the area of the applicator closest to the tip but not on the tip. Then immediately draw the applicator carefully across the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin) going from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part. Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid margin. Dispose of the applicator after one use.
